Required Skills

The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to:

  • Database Development: interpreting specifications, technical designs and flow charts, modifying software applications, constructing technical specifications from models and testing, and writing technical documents
  • Database Maintenance: managing, cleaning, storing and verifying organisational data, and evaluating compliance with internal and external data ethics regulations and legislation
  • Gaming Development: creating 2D and 3D modelling and animation software through scripts and storyboards
  • Networking: installing, configuring and testing networks and servers in organisations
  • Programming: building, testing and applying basic object-oriented language skills, user interfaces and software developments
  • Systems Administration Support: implementing maintenance procedures and support to help troubleshoot system applications
  • Web Development: designing website layouts through textual and visual content transfer, search engine optimisation and simple markup language documents.

Entry Requirement

There are NO previous work or education requirements for entry into this course. Students may enrol directly in the certificate IV level course without completing lower ranked qualifications.

Admission Requirements

Students must satisfy the following age, English and Academic requirements:

  • Age: must be 17 years or over
  • Undertake Pre-Training Review
  • Undertake LLN and digital numeracy assessment: Learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy (ACSF Level 3) are desirable to participate in the course.
  • Moderate level of computer literacy and has access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smart phone with an internet access

Pathways

Course pathways after completing certificate IV in Information Technology

Assessment Requirements

To achieve Certificate IV in Information Technology qualification the candidate must have completed at least work placement as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency. If a student is unable to find appropriate work placement, Hammond Institute will assist in finding the work placements.

Practical Placement Requirements

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011) the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information regarding regulatory requirements here: www.acecqa.gov.au.

If a student is unable to find appropriate work placement, Hammond Institute will assist in finding the work placements.

The ICT40120 Certification IV in Information Technology requires 20 units of Competency.
