CHC53415 – Diploma of Leisure and Health

CHC53415 Diploma of Leisure and Health reflects the role of workers with responsibility for designing, implementing and evaluating health and leisure activities, and programs for clients in one or more sector areas. Work may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres. Workers work under supervision or as sole practitioners and may be required to plan, coordinate and evaluate other workers and work teams within broad but generally well-defined guidelines.

Admission Requirements

Students must satisfy the following age, English and other requirements to enroll in Diploma of Leisure and Health:

  • Age: must be 18 years or over
  • Undertake Pre-Training Review
  • Undertake LLN test: Learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy (ACSF Level 3) are desirable to participate in the course.
  • It is also essential for the student to possess basic computer skills.
  • Certificate III level or above or currently working in community sector.

Delivery Structure:

  • The delivery structure is comprised of classroom training sessions, structured learning such as training support, learning activities, self-paced (to allow the learners to absorb and reflect on their learning), workshops and work placement.
  • The unit of competency will be delivered and assessed as stand-alone unit.

All assessment will be conducted in accordance with the Training Package requirements, Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence (https://www.asqa.gov.au/standards/chapter-4/clauses-1.8-1.12)

Practical Placement Requirements

To achieve Diploma of Leisure and Health qualification the candidate must have completed at least 240 hours of work placement as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency.

All students must complete a minimum of 240 hours of work placement in an accredited residential care facility for either aged care, disability or home and community organisation to be deemed competent for this qualification.

If a student is unable to find appropriate work placement, Hammond Institute will assist in finding the work placements.

Unit of Competency

The Diploma of Leisure and Health is made up of 22 units. This covers 15 core units and 7 elective units.
